I had all 4 of the slots on my motherboard full with 512MB modules. i decided to upgrade this. so i went to the store and bought Crucial Ballistix RAM. It was a pack of 2, so it came with two 2GB modules. I put them in and the computer seemed to actually be a little bit slower. I was running 32 bit XP. I just installed 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate and it still doesn't seem all that fast. I have 2 of the slots filled with the 2GB Ballistix RAM and the other 2 slots have 2 512MB modules in them. So I have 5 gigs installed. I ran the Windows Experience Index thing and it gave my memory a rating of 4.1. Why would it be this low? By the way, this is a Dell Dimension XPS Gen. 5.

The 2 512MB modules are the ones that came with the computer.
