I've had this PC for a while, but when I built it, it was a beast. It doesn't seem to be running as it should so I'm assuming my gear is outdated. Here's my system:

I'm seeing cheaper parts (compared to when built) run better. Its an asus rampage II extreme mobo with a radeon 6990. Most this stuff put in back in 08. Any thoughts on the weakest point?

Define 'not running as it should' ? General usability lag or just gaming?

The 6990 should still run games decently.

The 6990 is still a beast card as well as the rest of your system. How long as it been running crappy? What exactly is it doing? You might want to think about reinstalling windows if you haven't since originally installed. Installing a fresh copy works wonders most of the time. What power supply do you have?

Games lag and not running smooth, fps feels slow. At work atm so I can't look at the supply. All I remember was It was an sli ready 1200 n something watt. Going to run a benchmark test on it when I get home. Any suggestions on what one to run and where to download it?

What games are you trying to play and at what settings?

Had you ever updated the video drivers? Some games have updated crossfire profiles that improve dual GPU performance.

I was running the beta drivers and tried omega drivers but doesn't look like much diff. I d/l a swarm benchmark tester from steam and ran it with horrible results. I attempted to overclock the CPU and run it, but every time the screen goes black and comp locks. Could this be a power problem?
