I am looking to upgrade from a HD 3850 512mb to a HD 4870 1gb however am not sure if my psu can handle it. My current psu is a Cooler Master RP-550 but i also have a hec X-Power 585 psu. So i am wondering which psu to use or if i would need to get a new psu.

The rest of my system is in my sig.

You need at least 500W and 2 6-pin connectors. Your PSU is fine, but make sure you have 2 of those 6-pin connectors. Plus, the 4870 is pretty big so make sure you have enough room inside.

To add, if you don't have a second 6pin there is an adapter in the box for (2) 4 pin molex to a 6 pin.

calculate what you need at this link
According to that my pc shouldn't be able to run (required: 705w)

I do have a spare molex to 6 pin pci-e so that isn't a problem. But i've decided to wait it out until new gen cards come out then hope the price drops. Someone reminded me that i can already play the things the games i play smoothly (gta 4 being the most taxing) so there wasn't a real need. Thanks anyways :)
