upgrading 98 to 2000 by upgrade disc

locked up 1/2 way thru copyimh files. how do i know whats going on?
i tried to install in addition to 98, instead of replacing 98.

gave me a choice, so i took to keep 98.

is that the problem? i need to completely install over 98?

any thoughts/suggestions appreciated....

Put the Windows 2000 CD in the computer, and boot off of the CD rather then from the hard drive. Then it will ask you if you want to erase and/or reformat the hard drive and install Windows 2000.
