i want to upgrade my dell thats in my sig. is it possible to put a faster processor with 64 bit in there. in the bios it says 32 bit not enabiled but i cant enable it so i beilve that my processor is not 64 bit. and can i take that green funnel thing on it and the cpu fan and trash that and just put a heatsink on and a fan on top of it. and i want to upgrade the graphics card my powersupply is a 305 watt and it says 12V rail A and B so does that mean that i have dual rails. it says it has 18 amps on each rail for a total of 36. now i was thinking of getting a 6800 gt would i have to upgrade to a better powersupply. and i am going to sell my ram on ebay and get 2 gigs of good ram cause my samsung ram has a latency of a 4 or 5. now would i be better off building a computer with a amd in there with a 6600 gt128 mb for now and getting a new graphics card when directx 10 comes out and will direct x 10 be backword compatible so i can use the videocard to play direct x 9 games. does hyperthreading make a difference with gaming at all will i notice a difference with multitasking does it make much of a difference.

any help is apprecitated.

well dells are pretty hard to upgade, let me tell u. first things first. i wuld not reccomend putting a new heatsink and fan onto ur dell mobo because i doubt it will fit, u can check first but i doubt it.

then i also doubt that ur psu is dual rail becuase dell psus are crap and for the average system dell users are building then u dont need a dual rail.

u might be better off just building a new comp with an amd processor and then upgrade as u go along, if are a gamer then try and get rid of ur dell.

Dells are hell to upgrade. Dell sure doesn't like you fooling around inside of their computers. I'd build a whole new computer.

ok thanks ill probably build a computer cause i am a gamer. can you guys help with that. i dont need a soundcard, harddrive, and optical drive and operating system. i want it to be as cheap as possible like max 700 with shipping. i would like it to be dual core but it doesnt have to be. ill probably start with a 6600 gt and buy a better videocard down the road. i am not going to overclock at all. i want some good ram with good timings. thanks for the help.

i dont need a monitor and i am keeping it.
Can I have your old RAM? I can't find anywhere to buy it at a reasonable price because no other computers use it besides Dells.

Usually if you ask dell what your computer can be upgraded to. If you cant get a 64 bit proc, then you would have to get a new mobo, so you would have to find one that fits, get a new dell or someother new computer. Adding a new power supply wouldnt be to hard though. Oh and be very careful with capability!

I found out that RAM is quite cheap on pricewatcg. $120 for 2GB. or up your computer to 1GB for $30. you could probly get more than that back on a higher selling price.
