Hi guys,

I'm very new to computer upgrading and building and don't really know much of the terminology, but I have been thinking of upgrading my Gateway FX6800-01e for some time now.

Specifically, I've been wanting to upgrade my graphics card (An ATI Radeon 4850 w/ 512mb of VRam) to run newer games like Shogun 2 and The Witcher 2 (To name a few) on the mostly highest settings at a resolution of 1600x1050. Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably between the $150-$180 price range.

My computer model's details can be found here:

Thanks guys the help is much appreciated, and any other details like if my power supply is able to handle it or if my RAM (3GB) is not high enough

A 6850 in that price range. It claims it has a 500W power supply, but most OEM ones are pretty much poor quality. So its a (up in the air) if it would work or not. Might be a good idea to replace both. Good quality supplies, look at Antec/Seasonic/XFX/Corsair/Silverstone/PC P&C/ some XClio

Yeah, thats fine. Pretty much overkill if your just going to run a single 6850. But if does give you alot of overhead for upgrades.

For your system as is, one of these would be fine.

Second, when I did a search for the 6850 I got multiple results for the card, which one is the best, and what difference would they have from each other?

Stick with a Sapphire/XFX/Asus/Gigabyte and some HIS models are not to bad.
