upgrading at onboard-vga

bonanza

the mobo chipset is nvidia GeForce 6150(C51PV) + nForce 430.

If I want to add a new VGA card, like GeForce 7950. Will it gain expected performance since the onboard chipset is quite "left behind" ??

Thx.

The onboard card will probably be disabled and you'll just use the new card as your primary. There shouldn't be any real difference weither you had onboard or not.

Your onboard video probably uses "shared" memory, taken from the main memory. When you disable it, the memory reverts to main usage, giving you a small memory increase.

I suggest you get that graphics card, If your looking for a easy computer speed up, its better to get a good graphics card then to get a new cpu

even my onboard sound hampers my computer's speed

i haven't had onboard video since my p133, but i can't imagine it's too good for performance

with a dx10 board, you may have some bottlenecking (ok, you WILL have some bottlenecking) but your card can easily be swapped to a new computer down the road, so go for it
