Upgrading Card Help

Okay, so I just sold my graphics card (ATi x1900xt 256mb) on ebay. I decided to upgrade when I found out they had 512mb versions, slow right? anyway, i was thinking of getting the x1900xt 512mb. however, i had better game performance history with nVida cards and i was told nVida cards are going to have an easier to you with dX10 when vista releases or something they guy at frys was saying. so i just want to know if the 512 7900gto is a better way to go than the 512 x1900xt (not xtx)?

The Radeon is probably the better of the two cards, but just upgrading because of the extra RAM isn't too smart. You'll be very lucky if there's any performace increase between the 256MB and 512MB versions

Well...better look into some benchmarks... The 7900GT is only slightly slower in 3DMark than the x1900... The 7900GTO might be the faster :o

i completely get what ur saying, but thats just me, i like to shoot for the best, thanks to my lack of everything growing up. anyway, i always think about getting an nvidia card, like i said better game performance history, but i've always had ati cards so its hard to switch. and i just want to be better prepared for the future so i wont HAVE to upgrade as soon. thats why i wanted to go with a 512 over a 256.
