so im upgrading my old computer
it has an AMD athlon 64-- and other stuff
and im keeping my old HDD

my new setup is going to use an intel i5 2300

i partitioned the hdd.. and everytime i bootup.. then computer either
1) doesnt read that my hdd is plugged in OR
2) will BSOD after i have installed all of my main programs (office, anti-virus...)

does this have anything to do with goin from AMD drivers to Intel drivers? where i can fix the problem by buying like a phenom ii x2 or athlon x2??

or can someone tell me the problem and solution??

Thanks all :)

By partitioned the drive do you mean you deleted the old partition, created a new one, formatted the new partition and did a clean install of the OS?

Definitely do that. During Windows installation select the custom install option, and when you see your drive listed there are advanced options (screen should look like this: http://benchmarkreviews.com/images/articles/Win7_Upgrade/Microsoft_Windows-7_Install_4.jpg) and do the following:

1) Select your current hard drive partition and hit "delete" (be sure your data is backed up)
2) Create a new partition in your preferred size
3) Format the new partition
4) Install Windows

If he didn't replace his motherboard the new CPU wouldn't even fit and the computer wouldn't boot ;)
