I have 256 MB of RAM; Kingston DDR 400 Mhz. If I buy a 512 stick, will I have 768 MB of memory, or do I have to buy in pairs, so either another 256, or 512 and take out the 256 I have? Does it depend on the motherboad? I have ASUS.
With DDR yuo don't need to match memory sizes so you can buy whatever size you want (provided your motherboard supports it). If your board supports dual channel you might want to consider matching the size (2x256 sticks, 2x512 sticks etc)
