Upgrading Friends PC

My friend wants me to upgrade his computer. It's an intel, and it was bought through a company (Viglen) so I don't know much about the motherboard. I downloaded CPUz and this was the information it gave me:

CPU:
Intel III
Slot 1 SECC2
600Mhz
FSB = 100Mhz
Bus Speed - 100Mhz

Motherboard:
Viglen Limited
Vig69M

Memory:
SDRAM
128 MB
Frequency = 100Mhz
PC100
(There are three RAM slots I think)

My question is, what can I do to upgrade his computer? I really don't know much about his Motherboard, so I'm stuck...:o He wants to be able to put Win XP Pro on it and for it to run simple games like the Sims 2, etc...

Thanks for your time.

Sims 2 is pretty demanding, I don't think he'll be able to easily play it.

If you can find out the socket of the CPU, you can look for a better CPU. However P3 CPU's are increasingly hard to find. They make them up to 1.3Ghz I believe, providing you have the right socket.

He'll need at least 512MB of RAM to smoothly run XP Pro, considering it's only PC100.

He will need a pretty good gfx card as well. Does the mobo have an AGP slot? IF not an FX5700 is th best thingthat comes in PCI.

Really, I thnk hes better off putting all thi money towards a new PCal together, and selling this older one. Even after all these upgrades, it's still going to be a slow gaming machine.

He may have actually said the Sims, becuause they are running a Sims game, so it's probably the Sims. Errmm, as I said, I really don't know anything about the motherboard. I have emailed Viglen asking about it, but I'm not so sure if they are going to reply back any day soon... PC100, what is that in Mhz?

if you can find out the socket of the CPU

Do the words Slot 1 SECC2 mean anything? :D

PC100 = 100MHz

Oops, yah that makes sense lol. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/directron/733eb.html

For that price you could get an AMD XP 2400+ 2GHz, that's why i think it's be better to save the cash and get a new PC. For $80 all you get is an extra 150MHz which will not be noticable most of the time. But if that's not possible I understand.

Right, ok. So you think I should just tell him it's not worth doing the upgrade as it wont really make much of a difference, and his best bet is to sell it and use that money to start buying a new one?
