Hello forum,

Without having to scroll down to my signature, here are my Specs:

Case- Coolermaster HAF 932 Full Tower
Processor- Intel Core I5 750 Quad Core
Ram- Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3
Power Supply- Corsair TX750W 750W
Motherboard- Asus Maximus III Formula
Operating System- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Hard Drive- Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATAII
Video Card- Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB

First off I bought a new CPU Cooler a couple of days ago:
http://canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_135&item_id=039347

I haven't installed it, I am waiting to buy everything else so I can install everything at once.

Here is what I want to replace:

Intel Core I5 750 - Intel Core i5 2500K

Asus Maximus III Formula - ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe Z68
http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=10530BD6699

I am looking at replacing my front LED red fan and just want to replace it with a blue LED fan from CoolerMaster.
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=52545

Then I want to (not sure if I want to add 4 of these fans: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26744) to the Top or Side of my case. Which ever I pick I will have another blue CoolerMaster LED fan on the other part.

New things I want to add are:

4 Channel Fan Controller
http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14110AC8300&vpn=KM02-BK&manufacture=SCYTHE
I might actually invest in the 6-channel one and not the 4 channel. But I don't know where else I need fans.

I was also thinking of adding in a Hard Drive Cooler:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835110018&Tpk=HDC-800A
But maybe I just need an extra Scythe 120 mm fan in the front of my case (including the CoolerMaster 200mm one).

And lastly I want to add a SSD for my operating system and main programs.

Any advise would help me out greatly.

Thank you,
Adam C.

If you use this computer for gaming I would just upgrade the GPU and leave the rest of the components as it is.
Since every component of yours is really good and does not need upgrading at this point of time, I would recommend saving up and seeing how the BullDozer turns out and the Ivy Bridge, since till then your processor will kill anything that comes in its way.

The main reason I plan on getting a new CPU is because I play Flight Sim X A LOT and I am wanting to add scenery and other stuff. Even with a set fps at 30, with a little bit of dense clouds, the game lags and goes to around 10 fps. Now I was certain I needed the CPU upgraded (and overclocked) and thought the GPU was fine as is. Also with the CPU replacement comes the motherboard replacement.

My computer (which has been running pretty much all day with only FSX running for 6 hours) is running at a temp. of 47 Celsius. But with FSX playing (I can fly for up to 10 hours or more at a time) will run much higher (don't know the exact temps. but I can just feel my room temp. rising). Which is the need for the new fans.

Appreciate the advise, mihir

I agree with mihir, you only need to change the GPU, On GTX 560 Ti you can get 60 FPS average easily.
You don't need to change the CPU and Mobo.

Yes the FSX is very CPU intensive, you can try overclocking a lot.

Well it that case, what can I get out of the GTX 570 that I cannot get out of the GTX 560. Is the 570 worth the extra $100?

Thanks again,

Adam C.

If you only play FSX then the HD4870 would be enough.
But if you play other games also then the GTX 560Ti will be enough and if you want something more futureproof then the GTX 570.
This is all assuming you game at Full HD Resolution.

I would go for Gigabyte over Asus, since I did not have the best experience with Asus.

Well I do play FSX a lot, but I have Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (the latest one), GTA4, BFBC2 (looking at also getting BFBC3 whenever it comes out).

Ok so most of them are CPU intensive, so you can wait up on the GPU.
If you feel like your GPU is a bottle neck and then upgrade it.

Well my main concern is what is slowing down my fps when I look at clouds for example. Or when I am driving really fast everything lags. Or when I turn shadows up on my games. Is it my GPU or my CPU?

Also which CPU would you prefer getting?

I have a GTX 275 which only a bit more powerful than the HD4870, and I do not see any lag while playing FSX, I do not play it on full settings though, but on full resolution. With my CPU on stock. So I think CPU would be the issue there.

My question regarding FSX is, with what I am running now, is it too much which is causing my game to lag?

Thanks again.
