Upgrading HP a405n vid card?

I have an a405n with an intel extreme integrated vid card. This computer blows now, but i thought i'd turn it into something that could simply play games that don't demand a huge vid card.

I'd heard rumors that there was a way to insert a graphics card (if so, how and what kind?), and disable the integrated card (if so, how?).

Any help would be much appreciated, as its probably headed to the trash heap if i can't put in a useful card. Thanks alot.

The only upgrade that computer can apparently take is a PCI video card. I don't know your definition of "simple games", but even the best of the PCI video cards are highly overpriced for their performance. But yes, it's completely possible to find a better video card and disable the onboard video.

Here's something I wasn't expecting to see... A pair of geforce 6200's crammed on one PCI card...

Your power supply will not support a worthy video card upgrade. I'd save up and build a new budget rig.

Thanks for the responses.

Yeah i have no problem going and buying another computer, i just figured it was overkill for the games that would be played on this computer. SimCity, Civilization are types of games that currently play on it just fine.

I was hoping to upgrade it enough to the point (new vid card, another .5 gig of RAM) that it might run a flight sim. The power supply thing does sound like a problem, I wonder how hard it is to switch that out...

If you can give us the specs of your current power supply (the info will be labeled on the unit), the total watt output and the amps supplied on the +12V rail, I can probably find a card that may be worth an upgrade. For those games, a GeForce FX 5500 may be a little better than your integrated graphics. You can get them cheap at newegg.
