Upgrading laptop memory...please help

Hello all

I'm on the brink of buying a laptop just now as i need one for my new DJ'ing job. Im lookin at ones on eBay for around £400 but ideally i'd like 1gb of ram. Unfortunately these are selling for around £600+ which is a bit on the expensive side for me. I have noticed however that i could buy 1gb of memory off ebay for fairly cheap. So im thinkin could i just buy a cheap laptop and upgrade it myself?

Apart from clarifying that the laptop can be upgraded to 1gb of memory, is there anything else I should find out? Can i simply buy a cheaper laptop then just slot in the 1gb memory stick?

Ok there are a few things you need to do and know,
you have to make sure the laptop has a free slot, if not maybe take the one in there out and put the bigger one in.
you have to make sure what type of ram your laptop takes as there are many different types of ram. A good site to have look is www.techbuy.com.au
there is a ram selector on the right it is pretty good it has most laptops and tells you how much ram and what type
