hi every one..
i recently upgraded my laptop to 2gb memmory.. but unfotunately i have to remove my previous 1gb ram(TWO 512mb sticks) although my laaptop have two memory slots one occupied with one 2gb memory stick ... it is unable to detect my previous either of rams .... but if i remove the 2 gb stick it happily accepts both the sticks ...

my question is how can i use my one of the rams along with my 2gb ram
my system configuration

I think my system is a 32 bit os.. running vista ultimate..
hope to see help...

More than likely you will not be able to use a 2GB stick with a 512MB stick. For the best performance and stability in a system...RAM should be run with matching pairs. The RAM has the ability to tell the computer what it is, what timings and what voltage to run. When you have two different types the computer is receiving two different messages.

First you can not just put in a 2gb ram and decide to put into one slot without knowning what is the max on one slot that why they put 512mb ram on each slot to make it a 1gb.

Second go to this link http://www.crucial.com/ and let it scan ur system and it will tell you what type of ram and what is the max on each one slot.

hi
news ...
i did the scan nd results are...
these

Maximum Memory Capacity: 1048576 MB
Currently Installed Memory: 2048 MB
Available Memory Slots: 1
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: N.A.
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2080 @ 1.73GHz Model 14, Stepping 12
CPU Speed: 1729 MHz

i cant get the maximum memory capacity which says 1048576  is it possible??
it also sait sloot one is occupied while slot 2 is empty..
throw some light on the issue
