Upgrading my graphics card AGP or PCI Helpppp

Hi all

Posted another thread the other day but im in need of some more help.

http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=48836

I was wondering how do you find out if your pc is a AGP or PCI??

the infomation i have found on my main board off the net is...

AGP 1, AGP 8X/4X 1.5Volt
PCI 6 slots, PCI 2.

does mean its AGP or PCI?

Thanks

well AGP x8, the Brown slot on ur mobo !!

You could also have a PCI graphics card too but no point if u have a AGP.

Do you do much games, etc ?? and whats ur budget ?

Don't confuse PCI with PCI Express. Your motherboard supports an AGP graphics card, but not a PCI Express one. You can also use a regular PCI video card, but there aren't any that perform well.

Yeah i play flight sim quite alot and my frame rates etc arnt that gd anymore.
im willing to spend about £60 on one. ive looked at a few so far but havnt commited to buying one until i know it will work with my system.

I thought about buying a NVIDIA 6200 256MB 8X AGP would that be ok for my system?

Thanks clearing it up for me.

It would work, but you can get better cards for the money. A 6600, for example, can be found for under £60 incl VAT. You may be able to find better deals if you shop around, a 6600GT or X1600Pro would be great.

THe 6200 is pretty slow. I would get a 9600xt for a budget card, and maybe a 6800XT if you want to spend a little more.
