upgrading my laptop??help please!

I have an acer aspire 3000. With a Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+. 40 GB HDD. 256 MB DDR. I want to upgrade it and make it good enough to run vista. I was thinking all i need to do is get a bigger HD and alot more ram. Can anyone give me some links of HD's and Ram that would work in my laptop. I tried to look on Newegg and stuff but i dont know enough about computers yet to figure out whats compatible.

Why don't you actually post a place to purchase RAM rather than a manufacturer...?

Newegg.com is probably the best place to purchase computer parts. And you don't have to get 2GB of RAM. The more the better. Plus, it's hard to get "anything less than 2gigs" when the laptop maxes out at 2GB...
 
Running Vista with 1gig Ram is a nightmare, its hard to really take advantage of it to its full extent. Also, if you would have looked at the website I provided, you can purchase from them and they have excellent service as I have dealt with them several times.

yep, vista on 1gb is a pain in the ass. thats why im dual booting XP:D

Dual booting or dual-booting is the act of installing multiple operating systems on a computer, and being able to choose which one to boot when switching on the computer power. The program which makes dual booting possible is called a boot loader.
