Hey,
i will be upgrading my laptops ram soon it currently had 2 x 256mb ram and im think of goin to 1024mb but i can get the right memory in 2 x 512 modules or 1 single module if i did just get a single one would i be able to just remove one of the existing 256mb cards and put in the 1024 in its place giving me 1280mb of ram:confused:

Im thinkin if i did ever want to upgrade it further (not that i would) haveing one new mod mean i can just replace the old 256mb!

i know i need to get type of mod so they are all compataable which ive sorted but wanted to know if will work before i go ahead and buy it

Your laptop seems rather new, so it might be running in duel channel mode. If this is the case, you will want to get a pair of identical RAM. If you don't, then you will loose some performace. I also don't have enough info to say what kind of RAM you're laptop uses. Download and run CPUz and check there. It should tell you DDR or DDR2, it's speed, and if it's duel channel.

just get a 1gb stick, dual channel won't make as much difference as 256 more mb of ram.

but to put in a new ram, on my I9300 atleast it is incredibly easy, just pop off the cover take out the ram pop it in shut the cover, start it up.

Sorry to ask again so it will work if in one slot their is a 256mb stick and inthe other is a 1024mb stick:confused: and it will give me 1280;)

ok thanks but surely if i did use them in deul chanel before it will be faster when it has 1280mb than it is now with 512mb:)

As I stated above, it will work but you'll loose some performance if you were previously running in duel channel.

Sorry for this... but Spelling Check time. it is Dual Channel, not (10 paces, fire guns at each other) Duel Channel.

And for the question, it will be faster than the 512, but compared to the 512X2 will be a little slower.
