Upgrading, need some help

$500 complete system including operation system, combo deals FTW-

CPU+mobo-

Case + OS-

GPU + Memory-

PSU + HDD-

Now, if the OP re-uses his current hard drive (which is possible since the mobo has 1 IDE port of course), and keeps his current operating system (as long as it's atleast XP), that would save him $150. So total system upgrade for $350, which would run circles upon circles around his current setup in every way shape and form.

You know what............................... NICE BUILD I like it nice job with the combo deals. He can reuse his current HDD but I would still get a new OS because I myself have switched HDD from computer to computer and the OS usually acts up and gets slow. A fresh install will fix that. It works sometimes but mostly you will have problems.

Yeah, $53 savings because of combo deals! I was surprised myself. I've been paying more and more attention to combo deals lately, they really add up on a complete build, as we can see!

I agree on the hard drive swap, fresh and new is better, but if $350 is all he can swing, for now it will do until he can afford a new HDD and OS.

Great component list 87dtna. The Athlon II 240 Dual-Core Regor is a good processor and the GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H is a decent motherboard. Good choices!
