Upgrading ram

Right, so, I recently purchased this memory upgrade: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=206684925

After I did a scan on all4memory, I discovered that my maximum amount of memory capacity is 4gb. Well, after, I bought that RAM kit. Now, I find on another site that my RAM slots can only hold a max of 1GB per slot. I found it on crucial.com

It says:

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Does that mean I cannot swap the 1GB sticks for the 2GB sticks in the two currently used RAM slots?

I did a scan on All4Memory.com, and it says I have:

Computer Make: HP-Pavilion
Computer Model: GC670AA-ABA a6120n
Computer Version:
Motherboard Make: ASUSTek Computer INC.
Motherboard Model: Leonite2
Motherboard Version: 6.00
Processor: Intel Unknown 2.0Ghz
Memory: 4 slots: 1 GB, empty, 1 GB, empty

I was thinking, if it comes down to it, I could install the two 2GB sticks and have the computer only recognize it adding 2GB total. I want to get another computer, one that can be upgradable to 8GB, but I want to find a budget machine. I was looking on buy.com and found a nice HP Pavilion for $550 that can do so.
