Upgrading RAM

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, it has 2 256 MB DDR PC2700.

Could i keep those two in and put in two 512 MB DDR PC3200 or do i have to take out the two 256's and just have the two 512's?

i just looked it up, it supports up to 2GB..

im pretty sure u only got 2 slots...

soo if ur wantin 2 get 1GB ram, ur gonna have 2 take the 2 256's out 1st...

no it has four slots and a max of 4gb so you will be able to put another two sticks in

well personally i'm preferring to entrust this one to dell's own service manual on the product....reckon there's a good chance they have it right and cnet are wrong

but since Dell says it's 4GB max supported, then i guess thats right..
