Upgrading to Ivy Bridge. How?

I have found very good deals on used i5-3570. What do I have to do after installing this processor?

You can't upgrade to that cpu as your current motherboard doesn't support it.

Which board do you actually have?

Your sig says ASUS P8H61-MX but you listed cpu compatibility for ASUS P8H61-M LX

The MX does not have that i5 as a compatible CPU on manufacturers site, while the M LX does.

Also, if you do have the M LX you need to check what BIOS you are running and make sure its the right one for that CPU to function properly.

EDIT: If you indeed have the M-LX board you need BIOS REV. 4104 minimum installed for use with the i5-3570

Apparently I was confused by all the different versions of this motherboard. I also read many different things. Somewhere I've read that it could support 3rd gen with BIOS tweaking.

According to the official website, it only supports 2nd gen. Meaning that the best I could upgrade to is an i5-2500 non-K chip.

Asus lists what the board supports on that page. You have a choice of either the I5-2500 or the I7-2600 or apparently it supports the I7-3770.

Ah, I navigated around the website a bit, and found that it actually DOES support some Ivy bridge CPUs.
