Upgrading to Quad

Would I have to upgrade my BIOS, or would it be Ok simply whackin' the CPU in there?

I think I have the F8 version of the BIOS.

It was mainly the Q6600 that I was thinking about...

Well, unless there's anything better for the prices?

Is there any advantage to flashing the BIOS... I mean, what do you think would happen if I stuck one in on the F8 BIOS?

Also, my MOBO supports up to 1333FSB, is that a problem?
 
If the BIOS supports the version of the Q6600 it's fine. If you get the 95W one I don't know if it will work but if Gigabyte says it's not supported I'm not going to argue with them. ;)

As for the FSB speed supported, it shouldn't be a problem.
 
Hmmm, So, if it's on the list it should work?

I've read in a few places that the 'F8' BIOS is the best version for OC'ing... so I don't really want to change, plus, I can imagine it being a hastle!
