Upgrading to Win7 Candidate from Xp

So basically, I have downloaded it (Windows website) and put it onto a disc. I know I have to clean install but how?

Ok what I mean is, how do I install drivers?
All I have are XP and Vista drivers so what do I have to do?

Also is there a way just to upgrade from XP straight to Win7?

Did you burn the disk as an ISO? Maybe to you its a stupid question but some people don't do this and it wont work.

If you have your all set to go,All you need to do is go into your bios and set your CD/DVD drive as first bootable, then insert the disk.

Wait for it to read the disk and press any key to enter setup, and basically follow the screen from there its really simple.

Once its installed,Set your hard drive back to first boot, you don't have to do this but will speed up boot time.

Windows 7 didn't need any motherboard chipset/sound drivers for me,it worked straight out the box,I would however install your graphics card drivers manually with the latest.

As for upgrading straight from XP to 7,I don't think you can but i could be mistaken.

yeh I know how to install OS's but I have always had the driver discs for the hardware. But I don't have Win7 drivers on a disc so how would I be able to work that?
Also Win7 has a upgrade feature that you can upgrade from your old OS to it, but is that only Vista or what?

What drivers do you need?

You should go to the manufacturers website and download their latest drivers,You will find that if the drivers worked in Vista then they will most likely work in 7 too.

Like i said,I didnt need any Motherboard chipset/Soundcard drivers at all,Windows update sorted that out for me.

ahh right. I thought you meant something else. So you are saying that I don't need any driver disc's or anything, it will just work?

Also, when I installed XP I had to plug in my monitor to my mobo because the graphic card drivers weren't installed, then I installed them and I plugged my monitor into into it and it worked. But since it sorts out all the drivers I can plug it straight to my graphics card?

I don't know where my VGA cables are and the converter to DVI

Im not saying you wont need any drivers,It realy depends on what you have in your system,If its a modern system than 7 should pick up and install the drivers for you.

It installed everything for me,But i choose to download just the nvidia drivers myself.
