Upgrading - Xmas time...gotta love it!

My parents asked me today what I would like for christmas. I had to say some new funky kit for my ageing comp.

See my sig for specs.

I want to upgrade the RAM(add more ddr400), add a new HDD (in addition to my 80gb one), the CPU (looking for Athlon 64) and this would mean I will need a new mobo(must be AGPx8).

Now, the RAM and the HDD I can deal with, but can anyone point me in the right direction for a new mobo and an Athlon 64 to go with it. Oh and it's for gaming mostly.

Upper budget: Mobo £50-80, CPU £80-110

Will you be overclocking the system at all?

I would suggest this motherboard and this processor. But if your not overclocking, then you can up the processor.

Ok that translates roughly to a combined budget of 244-355USD... hmm i would consider the AMD Athlon64 3200 [S939, Venice, ADA3200DAA4BP, 150USD] and say the MSI K8N Neo2-F [75USD] as a base start

I'm quite happy with my gfx card as it is. Does the job on all current games.

go to www.scan.co.uk thats where i got my stuff from cheep for the uk a athlon 64 3200 good cpu and check the motherboard there

Actually, that place is not cheap compared to places like www.microdirect.co.uk or www.ebuyer.com
