everything is good. may want to get better memory with better timings and go with 1 gb it will still be enough for games like battlefield 2 and fear

Above 1 GB won't do much, as AMD64 said, so look for a really really nice set of RAM, and it will help a lot to get something faster like PC4000 RAM when overclocking.

However didn't Archangel say that FEAR takes up to 1300mb of memory when playing? Also isn't battlefield 2 supposedly smoother when you have 2 gigs?

i dont know what to say they are in diffrent price ranges and stuff well if ur willing to spend that much on ram then id go with this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145575
or this 1gb

ok woah those are expensive and the OCZ that liquid mentioned are alot better since there CAS is 2 and the 1gb is 2-2-2-5 unlike the 1gb XMS that you chose at CAS 5, 5-4-4-9
CAS 2 and timing of 2-2-2 is best for gaming. (check RAM 101 if you dont believe me)
liquid id rather go with the 1gb and if you feel you really need 2gb buy another 1gb. but id doubt you will.
Also the 1gb is an EL platinum which is good for overclocking

Yea, the El Platinum is guaranteed a DDR-600 overclock. But however, the thing that troubles me most is whether or not 2gb of RAM will give better performance in F.E.A.R because thats what I've seen said on other forums.
Also the 2gb OCZ I mentioned has timings of 2-3-2-6 which are not bad. That is at factory voltages of course. I could up the voltages.

ok well i didnt look at his stuff and other stuff but yeah now that i look at it i see that i madea mistake sry
i think that the reason i did it is cuz im doin my history report at the same time lol

liquid take a look at this
http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2005/10/24/fear/5.html
and you can compare to the highend benchmarks on the page b4 it.
the mainstream benchmarks had
2 x 512MB Corsair XMS4000 Pro (operating in dual channel at 200MHz with 2.0-2-2-10 timings)
and still did well even with those not so highend cards.

and check there discussion on fear
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=1093889
many have 1gb check this guy for example

Now, i am on the Full verson. It is smooth..

My rig spec:
AMD AthlonXP @ 2.2Ghz
DDR400 512M

X850 XT PE.

I am running 10X7 with FSAA 2X & AF 4X ... with Max & Med setting.
and he has 512mb....

i think Fear puts more stress on the videocard than anything else so as long as you have a good video card i dont see a problem.
but if you really want 2gb and have the money than go for it. and of course 2gb would be better but i dont think its really needed. but thats my opinion.

True, true, true. How did you get that username? this has been my default username for everything for about 15 years. I had no Idea there was someone else with practically the same name!
