UPS doesn't work when electricity goes off.

I've been using Power Tree S650BX UPS for about a year now. It has worked perfectly when the electric power went off.
It has no driver CD but given that it hadn't caused any problem [even if it's not configured on the operating system] I didn't bother to look for its drivers on the internet.
Last week I changed the operating system from XP to 7 and when the electricity went off (today) the UPS didn't work and the computer shut down immediately and incorrectly.

I wonder why this happened. Is it related to the OP and the need for configuration on the system?
I don't know where I can download the drivers for free on the internet [if that's what's causing the problem]?

I never installed the software. I will say i have two belkins ups.
If the power goes out and not often but tested. knocked out the main breaker and test. had about 5 min or 7 min to save and shut down properly.

that would be one way to test. or hit the breaker if ya know which one.

Are you sure the ups battery is good?

That's what I'm wondering. Howcome the battery is not working so suddenly?
It used to be fine a week ago. Everything used to work normally. I had 10 minutes to shut the computer down when the electricity went off. Now it doesn't work anymore.
If the battery is not working properly should I change it or buy a new UPS?

I would have it looked at. You say its only a year old? It may not be charging anymore, batteries do go bad.

It could be. I'm thinking about sending it back to the shop where I bought it. Maybe they could have a look at it. My cousin has the identical UPS and hers is 4 years old and still goes strong with it.

Other than what JohnB35 said i would consider following up with the warranty. I think mine is 3 or 5 yrs.

On another note did you unplug anything?
I say that because it also has receptacles just protected from surge protection and maybe 3 or 4 for battery backup.
There is nothing to take apart really. thats about all ya can do.
warranty.

I have to find the warranty. As far as I remember, mine was 6 months. :(

I notice that when the UPS battery get used to often they just wear out, specially if you let it drain completely. In one year I had to replace 4-5 PSU do to power outages we had at the shop.
Why do you have to rely on the PSU so often?? Sound like you have bigger problem than the PSU.

Have you checked if the batter is still connect properly inside the case. They do come off the connection sometimes.

Is there a fuse in the power lead where it plugs in to the wall? A sudden loss of usefulness is sometimes explained in something as simple as this. are there any lights on the UPS?
