UPS w/ battery

I am not talking about the shipping company I am talking about the power protection. Is it necessary?

I am just wondering how many of you guys use it. For my comp that I am going to build, I have the PC Power & Cooling Silencer Quad 750W so my guess is if I would buy, I should get UPS that has 750+ W, right?

I'm confused because I would like to get it as low as possible (cost wise) and getting this would break my budget. However, I don't want the electric surge to blow my rig either. :(:(:(:(

I need everyone's opinion on this.

Thanks in advance.

A UPS is not necessary if you just want it for surge protection. The UPS is a battery backup also. You can get a simple surge protector that is built into a power bar. We use a lot of the UPS's at work, but this is so we wont loose work if the power goes outImportant). Anyway, do you need a battery backup?

Well, this will be a gaming rig so I am not even sure whether I would need the battery backup. This is the one I was looking at for the UPS w/ battery backup:

My apartment's fuse get blown easily if too much load is put on the circuit. So that is why I was thinking of using that UPS. But if you guys say that it is not really needed, then I guess I will drop it.

not if you plug it into the ups. If its a long powercut then its best to just shut your pc down but if its a short one then its useful too as it will keep your pc going while others would turn off. If you have lots of blackouts then its worth it. Personally I wouldn't worry about it otherwise. I've got one here at work on my pc but thats only cuz it was going spare :) Havent had to use it yet.

Well, the circuit in my apartment sometimes gets blown if I put too much load on it (CS LAN party). So you I think I should get this UPS?
My power supply is 750W so how much wattage should I look for in the UPS?
Any recommendations?

not really up on my psu's but that doesn't mean it's running at 750w all the time does it? I think it means thats the max it can do. what are you trying to run off it? just the base or the whole lot, monitor, speakers etc? cuz that will make a difference. and if you're planning on getting the "power bar" ups will you be running more than 1 pc off it? (for you cs LAN party of course :) ) this will all make a difference

The UPS is just for my computer and monitor and maybe speaker.
When I am doing a LAN party they will just plug into the outlet on the wall. So the ups is strictly for my computer. Do I even need this? (the ups I mean)
I mean if it would protect my computer I would get it but if it is not really necessary since blackouts won't destroy my comp, then I would hold off in getting it. I might eventually get it when I got the money.

So basically, my dilemma right now is:
If I get the ups along with my rig I would have to postpone buying them for a few months to wait for the money. Otherwise, I would be able to get the parts together sooner. :P

Alright, thanks, mate!

So blackouts won't really take out my computer also, right?
whew... Been hearing other people talking and that got me worried... :P
