and I need to know whether it supports atx motherboards... plz can someone tell me either where to find it printed on the case or find out what it is. I need this done urgently.

PS: its called a HP Compaq Presario SR1600

Thanx Much appreciated

I can't say for certain, but more than likely, it is not an atx case. Compaq was one of the worst for using proprietary parts in their systems.

You would be better off buying a new case for any new system you want to build. Since even the power supply that came with it is probably a proprietary part and if you need to replace it it would cause problems.

It will support a micro ATX motherboard. Not a full ATX. Your new board will come with a faceplate, as the Compaq one is guaranteed not to fit.

I have a old Compaq. It's a mATX. Most Compaq's are ATX. Some are propietary though. It's the Dell's you have to watch out for.

The I/O backplate is not needed if you're worried/don't have it.
