Urgent help needed-Partition Formatting Frozen

I just installed a new harddrive and the computer is now formatting the partition for Windows XP. However, 70% into the formatting, it appears to be frozen. It's been sitting at 70% for about half an hour. I'm afraid to damage anything but don't know what to do!

Any advice please? Thanks!

Reboot and give it another go. Nothing you can do at that point by letting it sit. Larger sized HDDs will take longer, but should never sit at something for 30 minutes.
