Urgent Help

Hi, im new to the site and my computer just got #$#%! up. plz dont laugh at me wen i describe my comp. i am running a Emonster 550 designed for 98se with xp. i installed alcohol 120ce to mount an iso so i could install this game(rise of nations) it was going really slow so i decided it was a good idea to restart my computer. after i restarted i decided to uninstall alcohol 120ce and get another program that would do the job. in the unistall progress it said to clear the registry i click on yes. wen it was finished my computer was screwed. some programs work but most of them say "could not find dsound.dll" and "thr procedure entry point OpenVxDHandle could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". i went to reformat my comp because it has been a long time since then and i figured it could use it. i opened my computer and both the drives for my dvd rom and my CD-RW were gone (D:, E:). i cant figure out wat happened and yes both the drives have power. i cant reformat until they work.

it would be greatly appreciated if one of u could help out bcause i am fairly new the the computer scene. TY

My suggestion would be to first try and use just one drive get the other one off for now. Definately for a problem such as that I usually do some resetting of the bios. Try that out.
 
yea, i agree with techpro. Ur gonna wanna reset the bios b/c most likely until you do the comp wont find the drives. post back if u need to know how to reset the bios.

Right Click "My computer" icon at desktop, then click on manage.
Click Disk Management - do you see the DVD rom and CD-RW drive at the lower right part of the window. If you can right click on it and assign a drive letter.
 
Yea i am going to know how to reset the bios. i dont know if this will work but ill give it a shot. o ya and the right clik on my comp didnt work there not there. :mad:
