Id set everything how i thought it should go, but when i plugged the ATX in and the ATX12 the cpu spins for a sec and the PSU goes normal, then i get beep codes from the motherboard. The codes are continous short, which according to the gigabyte manual, is power problem. The PSU is a Xilence 480W with 15V on 12V1 and 16 on 12V2. I dont think the PSU is the problem because ive tried a different one and that does exactly the same. Could it be a short on the motherboard?

I'd first check the RAM. Run single chips, and make sure it's seated correctly.

There certinally could be a short in the system somewhere. It's not too uncommon. To just test everything out, you could run the board outside the system. Just sat it on some cardboard or something. I hear it's best not to use an anti-static bag as the outside of it isn't protected as the inside is :P

Thats quite a good idea. Ill try it ontop of the motherboard box.

EDIT: Panic over. When i tried it,only the cpu was in. So i put the ram in, and it came up with video error beep code. So i plugged the gfx in, and it made a single beep sound. Woohoo! The CPU fan was a little iffy still, but a couple of nudges sorted that out, same with the PSU fan!

So now im gonna go have my dinner and then go reinstalll windows!

Thanks T_O_O :D
