Urgent wireless network help

k I have a wireless network connection atheros ar5005gs and when I get home ever connection is secure so I can't get on.is there any type of way I can make my own connection and access the internet at my home.i just bought this laptop from someone and I'm not sure what my wireless network is(well I have a strong feeling its this one that says on demand) but I don't know the network key how can I reset it?

on a computer that is on the network. hit start>run >"cmd" then in the command prompt type ipconfig and look for the default gateway. type that address into internet explorer. there should be a prompt for a password, if the user name and password is not on the bottom of the wireless adapter, try

admin admin
admin password
admin "blank"
"blank" "blank"

then go to the wireless tab and you can change the settings from there

I tryed that and I got
media state:media disconnected

hey do you have aim if so hit me heatonfeet because I need some help if you don't mind
