Hi,

Just got Windows 7.

Problem: I am currently running Win XP 32bit.

However I need to install Win7 64bit. As currently I have 3.25gig's of 8gb of RAM. However when I put the Windows7 64bit disc in at first it says wrong disc. So how do I go about UNINSTALLING Windows XP from my pc, to start again?

P.S. I know tiw ill probs wipe programs on my pc, but that is fine :)

Cheers!

EDIT: I know you will say 'Clean Install' but it won't let me load 64bit disc to do that :p

Why not backup your file and then install Windows 7 OVER Windows XP.
I don'y need to backup anything - no importasnt files since pc is only a month and a bit old.

But how do I install it OVER?

Where you put in 64bit disc it does NOT work :D

You need to boot from the install disc.

You can't run a 64bit installer from a 32bit OS.

Boot from the disc.

Just like he said, you need to boot to the install cd and delete existing partitions, repartition and then install the new Operating System. At the beginning of the installation there will be an option on where you want to install it to. Delete the existing partitions at that point.

How can I wipe my harddrive then so I can use the 64bit version.

Like I will happily get rid of my current os altogether.

You have to get your computer to boot from the install disc, before it boots into Windows.

To boot from the disc, keep tapping Esc while the computer is starting up.

This will access the Quick Boot menu, where you can choose to boot from the disc.

If your key isn't Esc, it should be listed on the BIOS Splash screen.
