USB and digital camera

hi,
I have an Oregon Scientific Dshot2 digital camera and i have some problems to connect it to my USB port.
After short time i use it on my laptop and on my dad's PC i got a message like "camera is not connected to pc"
the only way i found to fix this problem was to format whole PC because by uninstalling and reinstalling i got nothing
can someone help me please?

PS i don't like to format PC everytime this problem comes up

Does that message come up on both the laptop and the desktop?

I would make sure it really IS connected, before you reformat it.....jic

i tried on some pc with win98 and another one with winXP
they were both working good.......then....out of order
i format that one with win98 and now it works,......so....
it has to do with pc files,not with camera
i hope you can help me now

If there was software that came with it, reinstall it. Other than that, I dunno....

well....
on win98 pc i found solution with a long simple format.
with winXP i just plugged my camera and i used winXP drivers for my camera instead of using specific drivers dedicated for my camera.Then i installed patch driver for winXP (my camera is soooooooo old)
