USB Bluetooth dongle?

Would it be possible to use a USB bluetooth transmitter/dongle to transmit audio from my PC to my bluetooth speaker in the next room? Like, I plug the BT transmitter into my USB port and then open audio in iTunes or Youtube, then that gets transmitted?

Now, will this only work for audio or can I also use the dongle to transmit data, like my iPhone can transmit pictures to another phone over BT?

You can transmit both audio and data over bluetooth.
