I've just built a computer. First of all the bios says the cpu: a p4 3.0 is runnign at around 80 degress. I'm sure I installed the heatsink properly, I also put on thermal paste but ti didn't change the temps.
And also, the usb connection: the one which came with the m/b and the ones which i connected to jusb1 and and jdb1 for the led's.
TYHe led's are turning on, but anything i plug into the usb's aren't recognised, it's like they dont even work. Any help please?

1. What OS are you running?
2. What thermal paste did you use, what socket is your P4, and is it the stock HSF?

Running Windows XP
The thermal paste was a brand called Balance Stars,

Ah. Bad poop. Try getting Arctic Silver 5, its the best you can buy.

But again, what CPU do you have, and is it the normal heatsink?

are the drivers installed..If they are but still dont work try the mobo manafacturers website and download any mobo updates from there!:)

That is way too hot for that processor, Temp should be around 48 degrees celcius or lower. I have the 3.4ghz 775 with intel heatsink and fan running between 44 and 55 degrees depending on what i'm doing.

Questions 101
1. What are the full specs? In particular, the make and model of the mobo, PSU and heatsink
2. I'm going to assume 80C which would be alarming: did you put too much thermal paste on the chip?

but anything i plug into the usb's aren't recognised
Other than mice, keyboards, basic drives and things that use USB purely for power, not much else will work untill you get an OS on it

I need help please! USB's aren't working
Did you install the drivers?

I installed speedfan on the new pc and it turns out bios was wrong. The temps are only around 35 -40
If BIOS is wrong then I would be a "bit" concerned (and by a bit, i mean quite)
