USB doesn't work?

Hi i recently replaced my motherboard and now I realized that my USB ports aren't working. I tested them with several devices that worked perfectly on my old computer, the same thing for microphone jack. I check all 4 ports in the back and even hooked up the 2 in front of my case, non seem to work. There is power from the USB. For example my ipod charges but the Itunes doesn't read it.

My motherboard is M2NPV-VM Asus and I can't find a solution. The reason why I don't want to exchange it because I struggled with Asus for 5 months trying to figure out the problem when my computer wouldn't even start up. Went through 2 motherboards already. Stay away from them lol

You may need to install the USB 2.0 drivers that should have come with your new motherboard. Once you do this do a system restart and you should find your usb ports to be in operation again.

XP with SP1 and newer already has 2.0 support seen. The problem may simply be the bios setting for the buus is disabled maybe by you if you changed settings there and accidently changed the wrong one or need to load the optimized defaults.

Having run several builds with Asus boards that's a first to hear usb ports not working. The problem seen on a new build with the first board and a friend's new case a year ago was simply bad caps or bad bios chip for the first board here and a few arriving doa on the other build last year. The replacement boards for the other 939 build and the new AM2 build in use here have been running trouble free since.

If the bios programming done at Asus was incomplete a reflash of the bios could easily see that problem corrected. First try clearing the cmos or simply loading the optimized defaults to see the ports work then. Bad caps on boards are not just limited to Asus by a long shot. http://www.badcaps.net/

Hi the first thing I did is reinstall the driver and it is the same, I also checked the bios and everything is enabled. Any other suggestions? (I hope it isn't bad caps because if it is there is nothing i can do)

On your build that wouldn't likely be bad caps but either a need to update the bios or look at returing the board due to a fault on the board somewhere. Since you can easily get into the bios setup program it suggests another type of fault being seen there. Try loading the optimized defaults and even popping the battery on the board for clearing the cmos to see if that helps. If not then... rma time?
