usb drive on windows 7 pro 64

Ok. I installed win 7 Pro a few months ago. I have an external usb with a name external. i could not get it to work. USB's are fine. i checked. After pluggin in drive i could not find it. Went to device manager shows an external drive. Detects when plugging in the usb (new hardware).

Disconnected properly plugged it into a laptop with xp home and another tower with xp pro. works just fine.

Any thoughts?
Before i pull the rest of my hair out.
 
Damn if i know. this is the 2nd day to play with it. played this morning for two hours and looking for support. I went to try again. Plugged in the power and waited about two minutes. plugged in the usb and turned it on. checked and it was there. go figure.
Oh well............its working. im done with it.
