USB driver for Sony Cybershot with Laptop

I have a new Dell laptop with windows XP and I have an old DSC-S50 Sony Cybershot digital camera which came with a USB driver for windows 98. I tried downloading a USB driver for window XP, but doesn’t seem to work for my camera. Does anyone have any ideas or places to look for a USB driver for this camera? Any help would be appreciated.

since you have xp, you shouldnt need usb drivers for your camera. you should just be able to plug it in and xp will recognize it. all cameras i've plugged into my xp puters have worked right away.
 
Double check the camera is set to work as a USB Mass Storage device. Very few cameras work any other way(IE don't require drivers for XP) unless they are set to some other mode...say webcam.
 
It gives me a message about USB device not recognized or not working. The DSC-S50 camera I have is very simple and I don't see any switch to allow pictures to be accessed.
