usb not working operating system xp pro both usbs worked till i plugged in a printer

I'm not sure of the problem but I know someone will ask...is it a usb printer?

yes its a usb printer and it still works ok on my laptop with the same usb lead that i used to put it on other computer

Dont want to annoy you with silly questions of my own but have you tried all the usb ports on your computer? Also have you plugged other usb devices into the computer to make sure it is the port? Also what are you system specs?

The usb ports are screwy on my machine and even stopped funtioning all together on the back several times b4 I flashed my bios. The way I would fix my problem was reset bios and the usb would work again and I finaly fixed it permanently with a bios flash.

yes tried other things win xp pro it only has the 2 on the back that are on the motherbord my case has 2 on front but not connected
