USB HUB's... *tear*

I bought a “hub” in fact it is just a USB repeater but it works rather similar to a hub because I have had this same issue with a USB hub. All the standard USB devices work but when you try to connect a multi-function printer, a camera or in my case a Wifi Adapter … it fails to read it >.<’’

Why is this? Someone shouted out something about dongling… So far I have had a look at my USB adapter in Device Manager … it says it’s not “enhanced” so I guess it’s not 2.0 … even though I thought it was =]

Blar help =] thanks

charlie.

*edit* AHH shit .. why does my "USB HUB's" have an apostrophe... opps =]

*could*, indeed, be a power issue... try unplugging all other USB devices and then see if the devices work when plugged in the splitter (only one at a time). Oh and do the devices work normally without the splitter?

(oh and by "splitter" I mean hub... I try to get it right in the future)

Ok this seems like the likely reason for the WIFI not working, I had thought that initially because the hub does have a power source function.. but it didn’t come with a power source…

With the USB daisy chain, it is actually over 5 meters so it requires a repeater… but it also works as some type of a hub because the device splits into 6 …

So I’m guessing I’m going to have to go out and buy a power source >.< true?

If you can plug a power source in your hub and it seems like a power issue (e.g the devices work fine when plugged directly into the computer's usb ports), by all means get one.
