Hi, I repaired a PC for someone and I set it all up with the OS using PS2 mouse and keyboard. They have received the machine and are attempting to use USB keyboard anbd mouse but apparentlt it doesnt work...apparently the machine boots up ok but mouse and keyboard dont work and apparently they have tried a nerw mouse and keyboard and still no joy...

Gotta see them tomo but anyone got any suggestions what the case may be, do you think it will be either a simple setting within the bios as in the boot sequence and its oddly trying to load the actual keyboard and mouse or does it need enabling. The brand of the motherbaord is ECS.

Thanks

Are you saying it used to work with the USB keyboard and mouse? Have you checked the bios? However, if both keyboard and mouse don't work, that sounds more like a USB problem. Does anything else work on USB?

Dont think it did ever work on USB, i set the machine up using PS2 connectivity and was no issues. Nope havent checked BIOS yet as will be taking a look at the machine tommorow, just wasa curious to know if this is likely a BIOS setting issue. Not sure if anything else works on USB either..

Thanks

Well definetly try other usb devices first. There really shouldn't be any reason a USB keyboard or mouse wouldn't work on a computer once it's in windows... Even very old machines. Well, assuming they have at least say 98 :P

Firstly make sure that all the USB ports are enabled and working in order, next you might want to check your bios to confirm if you have ‘enable support for USB legacy devices’ or something similar. That should clear things up a bit, if not, check your mother board.
