USB mouse not turning off after PC is put into standby

I currently use the Razer diamondback USB mouse and when I put my computer on standby, the mouse stays lit. And since it is a "gamers mouse" it never powers down. So whenever I put it on standby, I have to go behind the comp and rip out the usb, and when i resume, i go and plug it back in. When its on standby, I rip out the usb for the mouse and stick it into another usb slot..... but its not lit when plugged into that one. Only the slot it was just in before my computer was placed on standby remains powered...... strange.

Well, i'd appreciate any help
 
Does it matter... it's not really taking up any power...

Also, do you see a green arrow down by your clock? If it's USB, there should be a "Safely Remove Devices" thing down there, and you should be able to cut power to the mouse.
 
Thanks, i'll go try that.
But im not woried about my mouse taking up power, im just worried about it breaking if I leave it on 24/7... it is a $60 mouse
 
that's a specific function of that mouse, that it NEVER turns off

all gaming mice are like that

it's made to stay on 24/7, it will far outlast your computer
 
That is what standby is for, you go back to ur pc and wiggle the mouse and it resumes. no it won't overheat, that is almost impossible.
 
the problem is when i put my computer on standby or hibernate, the mouse doesnt even turn off. so when its on standby and the mouse is on, even if i click the mouse or keyboard, it still doesnt resume from standby. i have to press the power on button on my my CPU. so this is what i end up having to do everytime i put my computer on standby.

I put it on standby, go around and unplug my mouse.
when i want to resume, i go around and plug my mouse usb cord back in, then press the power on button.
 
well.. for that i'd look into the bios. most motherboard have a 'wake on USB' or 'boot on usb' function. because of this, it wont power the device's off, since it could get a signal from them to boot up.
If you turn that feat. off, it should power it off. (not sure ofcourse if thats also in your case, since i dont know what motherboard you have. but i had that problem with my Albatron K8SLI, and with the feature turned off, it didnt do that anymore.)
