so i got my keyboard and whatnot and hit "Delete" nothing happens
turned of computer and tried a USB port, nothing happens.

now, i have this extention USB port that lets you use an extra 4 usbs that arent connected to your computer, that turns on.....no power from anywhere else exept the stupid computer.

Boot with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, make sure the BIOS suports USB devices, boot into windows, check the USB controllers. Maybe update the chipset drivers. Probably USB keyboards have been disabled in the BIOS.

ok buddy, lets start over

opening the new book

refreshing the page

I HAD my computer running, blew the psu.
now i got a RMA and its new and free.
so i put it back in and plugged everything in. It only loads up to the very begining. its before my BIOS and my setup options.
i have 2 options, "tap" or "delete" now i plug my keyboard in, it doesnt work. i turn off the computer and plug the keyboard in it still wont work "my keyboard wont register delete button and sometimes wont turn on. it does this when i take off the adapter and put it in the usb too. i dont know whats wrong. my mouse works but my keybo0ard doesnt.

Is something installllllled wrong or is something shot?

Try using an old keyboard which hooks up to your PS/2 port. I had the exact same problem when trying to install an OS (Linux). It couldn't detect my keyboard, probably becuase it needs drivers to run properly. I then inserted an old keyboard, like this:

and it worked fine!

well, the used a cheapy keyboard and it doesnt work...

and i tried my logitech usb one too.
i also took off the usb and tried that
not dice....

HELP!

Then why is it I can?

Some newer BIOSes have USB keyboard support. It is not even close to universal, though.

Theoretically, an USB keyboard with a PS2 adapter should work, if everything else works. Strange things can happen, though, and obtaining a plain old PS2 keyboard shouldn't be difficult to test things out.

If that doesn't work, then chances are the motherboard is damaged. If you blew a power supply prior to this, then damage to the motherboard is likely. You could try removinghte CMOS battery for >5mins and reset the BIOS, try again.

could the video card be damaged too?

because i have a couple of days to RMA the card, i cant RMA mobo, but maybe the manufactureer

You are betraying your age, Dilly.

If you want to reset the BIOS, then remove the power cord form the computer, open the case and remove the battery. ALoow the machine to sit there for at least five minutes before putting the battery back in.

Check all connections while you are in there, make sure all the add-in cards are well-seated fronat and back. Plug the machine back in, make sure your keyboard, mouse and monitor are plugged in and turn the machine on.

See if your keyboard will now work for you.

If you see writing on the screen, then the video card is obviously working, at least a little.

the thing works, actually boots up sometimes.

most of the time it stops at POST number 9.0.
which means, "complete uguru initail process
AWARD bios take over boot job"

so does that mean AWARD bios wont load?

I mean if i let it st for awhile "hour or so"
it usually boots up.

but when it stops at "9.0." there is nothing on the screen and the LED doesnt show that the hdd is loading at all.
it just sits there, fans run, mobo lights are all on, video card fan and lights are on, optical drive is on.

i really dont know,

i powered everything off and jumped the cmoss and i also took out the battery for a while "2-3minutes"
should i leave it out for like 10minutes?

im calling abit right now so ill see what info they give me

thank you

something with Bios

i dont really know what he had me press.
i just listened and clicked.
