Usb startup disc on shuttle pc

So I made a thread similar to this one a while back. I have two usb start up discs. A 16gb Kingston dt108 with fedora, and a 8gb Razzo patriot with mint cinnamon desktop. Neither of them work. My dad has used both of them on different computers and they work fine. The boot order is usb cdrom, usbzip, and usbfdd. The computer always boots to the hard drive, which has Ubuntu server installed on it. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Is there an option for USB HDD?

If not, I've seen many BIOS's that detect a USB stick as a HDD. Meaning, somewhere in the BIOS there would be an option for something like "HDD Order/Priority" that would let you set the USB stick as the preferred boot HDD.

Alternately, most (many?) BIOS's also give the option at boot for an F8/F10/F12 temp boot menu that might help you boot to the stick if its just for a single boot.

However, I've seen some older BIOS's that just wont boot to a stick that I've used in many other computers...
