USB Stopped working.

The Sit-Rep:

A few days ago I got an error saying "USB device not recognized". I waited a minute or two and it worked again.
Today: Doing everyday things, music, internet, msn, ect... My mouse stopped working. Alright, I try a different port. Ok, that didnt work. Tryed a different one...Still nothing. So I go into the ancient electronic box and get a PS2 mouse out. Plugged it in, thatl didn't work either...

What I have tryed:

#1 Restarting 100 times
#2 Bios back to default settings
#3 Made sure USB devices are enabled in the bios
#4 Took out and put back in the battery on the Motherboard
#5 Updating my USB drivers through the windows deal
#6 Tried rolling back drivers
#7 Enableing/disableing then re-enableing the USB ports
#8 Tried updating the drivers with the CD that came with my motherboard (I can't tab over to anything for some reason when it auto-starts... Would be a nice time for a mouse eh?
#9 Unplugging ALL USB/PS2 devices then restarting
#10 Theres probably more I've just forgot about...

I think thats about it... Hopefully some of that can help you guys help me :)


Anyone??? I'd really like to start using my mouse again....:(

What kind of motherboard do you have? How many USB ports do you have? Have you tried to use another? It could very well be that your motherboard is dying.
 
Its a Biostar TForce 6100-939 (Its the fancy OC series or something)

I have 4 USB ports in the back and 2 in the front.

I hope its not dying. I kinda like this motherboard :(

One more thing I think I should add... There is still power through the USB ports because the red optical light thats in my mouse is still on. :confused:
 
then it should be working.. iif the light it on but not detecting... thats weird. are you sure its not detecting? try reinstalling drivers
 
I was finally able to find the right USB driver for my board and install it.... It's changed nothing. I've tried that 4 times... wtf is going on? Light works? Drivers installed? Yet it just WONT WORK.... This is extremly frustrating..... I always seem to have the most retarded computer problems ever conceived. I just don't get it. I suck at life.
 
try geting an old usb 1.0 pci card or just get a usb 2.0 card whitch ever and that shuld fix it
or go to driveragent.com and scan for drivers ill geve u usere name and password if it says that you need the driver
 
re-do windows as last resort might fix problem

use boot from disk and repare windos the second time it askes the first one is not usere frindly

Alright, thanks guys...

I tried to repair windows via the install disc... no luck there. I reformatted, twice! Oh well... I went on newegg tonight and bought a 4 port USB 2.0 PCI card.... And a video card! XT1950GT

Hopefully both will work....

I'll post back when and if I get my mouse back:(
