USB to PCI Adapter

almost definately not, considering there's virtually no strain created on the mobo from using onboard USB to start with, but also because you're only moving the problem to somewhere else, even if it was causing stress on the motherboard, the motherboard still has to run an extra PCI card...

why do you ask, i wouldnt imagine any slowdowns are due to using onboard USB...
 
Well I was told that using a sound card rather than the onboard sound reduces stress on the mobo and I didn't know if it was the same for USB.
It doesn't have anything to do with stress on the motherboard, it just uses a bit more CPU power, nothing noticeable. Even less so with a USB add-on card.
