USB Trouble

I'm not a computer genius by any means... so... that is why I'm finding my particular problem to be so extremely frustrating!

First thing, I think the problem started when we got DSL, but I can't be 100 percent on that.

Second thing, when I used to connect up my digital camera through the USB port it would go DO DO (make a noise) and it would cup that new hardware was found and the folder would automatically popup with my pictures in it and I would copy them over to my computer. Now that doesn't happen. I go into My Computer and then connect my camera. Removable disc G comes up. I think, yay, it's going to work. Sometimes it works and sometimes the computer freezes until I unplug the camera.

I go run G:/ . Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't.

Going into device manager, right clicking, properties, always says that the device is working properly.

Trying to hook up a digital 8 track recorder to the usb to export the music. Haven't been able to get it working at all.

what type of camera is it? brand and model number. You might be able to find software from the vendor, or other people recomending a certain type... IM a good googler...

what operating system are you using? xp has probably the biggest driver database already in it, making it a handy operating system

Umm think you guys are deviating off topic some what and posting just to get your count up osme of you.
what the he77!

Ok i need you to tell me what type of USB Port you got 1.0 or 2.0 because if you shove a 2.0 cable into a 1.0 slot it doesn't work. More info would be great mate ;)

Oh and if it freezes it may be your operating system or it may be your available memory. If your PC is full files (even tiny ones like messages through cables0 will not be able to be transferred therefore causing a blockage and a "freeze".

By the sounds of it, it looks like you changed something (no offense) Are you sure you didn't click something that prevented it from coming up?

For the freezing, I'm not sure. How much RAM do you have? Look in the task manager under the performance tab, and please tell us how much pyysical and available memory there is on your computer.(bottom right)

Also, the camera model would be nice.
