I want to buy a USB WIFI Adapter with a WPS Button to easy connect to a router.
To make the adapter work it has to plugged into a conputer.
But my question is: does it realy need a computer, or is it possible to make it work just ussing a 5Volt power adapter. (it's just about making the connection)
After that, can i use the usb wifi-stick on other computers ?

Howdy,

You're better off just using a PSK. WPS has some vulnerabilities that can compromise your network. It's pretty easy to type in a password as it is.

How would you expect to 'make a connection' without a PC component?

Okay, so just retardation then.

Yes, you need a PC or some other device like a Raspberry Pi to actually create a connection or analyze wireless traffic, obviously.

Sure you could power a USB device with only power and no computer, plug it into a USB charger and bingo. Now, what do you think you'd accomplish with this? USB WiFi cards are not routers, without a computer to plug it into it's useless.

Also, WPS is awful. Just use WPA2-PSK. Click on the network name and enter in your password.

O.K. thats very clear.
Thank you.
So the WPA-KEY is stored in the O.S. of the computer, not on the stick itself.
:(:(:(

Yes the key is entered on the computer, as the WiFi card requires software on the computer in order to function. What were you trying to accomplish? Maybe there is another way.
